The Benefits Of Ongoing Quality Pest Control For Your Marietta Home

The Benefits Of Ongoing Quality Pest Control For Your Marietta Home

Have you ever sat and watched birds feeding on the berries in a tree, fluttering from branch to branch? Have you ever watched a squirrel eat a nut at 300 miles per hour as if it is its last meal? Marietta has a lot of life, and many animals can come into your yard to entertain you. It can even be fun to watch some of the insects that come into your yard, like butterflies fluttering in your landscaping and fireflies glowing in your backyard. But some animals get into the wrong places and make themselves pests, and some insects are not welcome—even a little bit. The primary benefit of ongoing pest control is that it manages all that life in your yard and makes sure it stays where it belongs. Join us as we look at a few benefits you'll enjoy from having ongoing, quality pest control in Marietta.

The Many Pests That Are Known To Invade Marietta Homes

You may not know this, but many of the creatures that come into your yard can damage your property and make you sick. A benefit of ongoing pest control is that you are informed about potential pest threats. Here are just a few of the many pests your pest control program will manage for you.

  • Subterranean termites tunnel or fly into your yard. When they tunnel into your yard, they can establish a satellite colony in the ground to access food sources in your yard faster. When they fly into your yard, they can begin a new nest and grow a family. We don't need to tell you how bad that can be.
  • Carpenter ants crawl into your yard and look for sweet food sources or protein. The sweet food sources they love most are the nectar of flowers and honeydew produced by aphids, whiteflies, and scale insects. The protein food source they feed on is bugs—lots and lots of bugs. As they move about in your yard, they'll look for rotting wood to nest in, such as stumps, logs, and dying trees.
  • Carpenter bees are fat, fuzzy bees that fly into your yard and explore old fences, decks, sheds, and porches. You hear them happily buzzing and chewing inside these structures.
  • Mosquito problems begin with one female mosquito. Females lay a hundred eggs at a time. They'll deposit these eggs in puddles, pools of water in your gutters, water collected on an object in your backyard, a bucket, a cup, and any container that can hold at least one inch of water. When they hatch from the eggs in stagnant water resources, you may see their larvae. They look like little wiggly worms. Those worms develop into tumblers and emerge from the water when they reach their adult stage. All of this development takes less than two weeks.
  • Ants crawl into your yard, feeding on nectar from flowers and sap from plants. Some ants eat bugs, both alive and dead. They slowly encroach, establishing mounds as they go. Before you know it, your lawn is filled with these tiny pests and they're crawling on your driveway, walkways, back deck, exterior doors, and climbing lock-step up to your bird feeder.
  • Spiders will creep into your yard or fly. Yes, fly. They don't have wings, but they can create a parachute with their webbing and ride the wind currents. Once they establish themselves in your yard, they'll use that webbing to create traps for insects in your yard. These webs are unsightly and we don't have to tell you how annoying it is to walk through one.

We could go on, but you get the picture. Life comes marching into your yard, whether you like it or not, and some of those pests don't stop in your yard; they come right inside.

The Hassles With Do-It-Yourself Pest Control

There are many ways to address pests yourself, but there are many drawbacks to doing it yourself. You can spend money on control products that just don't work. You can take the time to fix a problem only to have that problem continue without realizing you didn't fix it. Even when you do pest control yourself and get great results, it's a lot of work. It is much nicer to have someone handle the dirty chore of pest control for you.
